Our methods are based on the experience and techniques developed by our founder over his 19 years as a certified Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, working with students of all ages and abilities. Each class is personally arranged by our Director, ensuring that every student in the class are at the same level with the same needs.
After 18 years of developing, implementing, and directing aquatic programs for major centers in NYC and his home state of Nebraska, Florencio Flores Palomo felt it was time to start the work of creating his own swim program and in the summer of 2015 REACH swim academy was born; the program he always dreamed of creating, rooted in the beliefs and ideals his parents raised him to have
REACH would strive to be known as the place where children of all abilities and backgrounds; most importantly those children with special needs, could have access to quality, affordable, swim lessons in a safe, nurturing, and fun environment. Focusing on the quality of lessons they provide, not the quantity of students is just one of the ways REACH sets itself apart from all other swim programs in NYC.
REACH's first two swim seasons were a huge success and has gained the support of many people and programs. Autism Speaks has awarded REACH a swimming and water safety grant for the past two seasons and most recently NY1 has honored Florencio as "NYer of the Week" for his work in creating REACH and providing affordable lessons to a population that far too often are overlooked. This is just the beginning....stay tuned for whats to come next!
To provide quality swim lessons to children and adults of all abilities and needs; especially those with special needs, by dedicated, experienced, passionate, and patient instructors; creating a fun, nurturing learning environment that respects the needs of each individual and manner in which they learn best.
